Today I conducted an interview with Professor Ramani Ramakrishnan from Ryerson University who is an acoustical engineer specializing in acoustical modelling, noise control, architectural acoustics, and aero-acoustics
New proprietary equipment for the study of the hum. Here is the start of a custom made system where I will be able to measure the ‘Windsor Hum’ more accurately. Much more to come
I have recently had a few e-mails from ‘supposed’ workers from Zug Island who are very concerned with the focus of the documentary (concerned?!?)…They don’t don’t like the idea of the story being the 'big bad USS’ story. They are concerned for the USS company, so it must be a great place to work! Although, I respect the loyalty. Yet, there are several businesses on the island other than USS. In the future we may have evidence to show that Zug Island is not the source of the hum…. These 'supposed’ workers don’t like the idea of HAARP, or any military mention either (which I have never mentioned it being HAARP to my knowledge) so where would that conclusion come from anyway? Most of what I have been doing is low key. I am looking at the scientific evidence we have in hand, and I am doing my own journalistic investigation as well. I have no evidence of a military presence on Zug Island, or any evidence of HAARP (or anything like that). I am still open to any workers from Zug Island to speak up on camera, and do interviews with me. I can hide your identities, and disguise your voices. I have also been trying to get a hold of officials at USS for 6 months or more…they are very unresponsive.
We came across the sound of the ‘Windsor Hum’ in full force one June morning in Lasalle. Karen lives about 3.5 miles from Zug Island, in a beautiful picturesque neighbourhood. How can anyone enjoy their life when they have to listen to this?
It’s been quite tough to get a full picture of the ‘Windsor Hum’ story when all the big companies/governments will not talk to you about what they do. The result can lead to conspiracies as bizarre as HAARP, and who knows what else. I think that they prefer that, because they want diversions. They do not want you to know anything, for whatever reason. Private companies have so much power these days that no one really knows what any of those companies are up to. Should we know what they are up to? Can we trust the EPA, NRCAN, Environment Canada, etc to watch out for the public? I am not sure if the trust in those governmental organizations applies anymore. There seems to be a disconnect between industry-government-people. This lack of communication automatically makes you think they are all hiding something. True documentary should be unbiased, and we should have both sides of the story….but it’s tough in this time we live in. Regardless, we trudge on with the Windsor Hum searching for the real truth.
Ojibway Shores is one of the last pieces of natural habitat that reaches the water on the Detroit River, and it is unofficially (?) part of the Black Oak Heritage Park. This forest is extremely rare, and has many endangered/vulnerable plants and animals within it.
For the past few years in the land surrounding this area (once known as Brighton Beach) was taken over by the Federal Government. They appropriated the land for bridge development. Shortly after, security was put in place to keep people off the land.
I asked a security guard what they were protecting and she said “…The plants, and animals…” At any given time there are about 5-10 security guards surrounding the area. It could be considered excessive security for the protection of only natural habitat. How can anyone believe that when the government wants to rip the forest down now?? How can that be called protection?
If you decided to sneak back into the Ojibway Shores area you would be arrested by the Windsor Police who drive around on ATV’s. They protrol the area, and give people tickets for entering this natural habitat. Does this make sense? Does it make sense that they would be using motorized vehicles on such a vulnerable patch of land? No. None of this makes sense.
The other interesting thing is that all along this blue line (see inserted picture) there is no access along the water for the public. Many industries reside in these spaces, and they don’t allow access to anyone…especially camera people. I have tried numerous times to get down there to get shots of Zug Island but it’s tough when no one wants you down there.
In the past I was given permission to film Zug Island from the Canadian side, but I had to go through the harbour master to really get permission. It’s a two tiered system of permission.
Only time will tell if people will be able to save this last vestige of green space - The ancient and vulnerable forest.
No final decision on clearcutting Windsor’s last stretch of natural riverfront lands will be made before comments from a public meeting Wednesday night are properly digested by the Windsor Port Authority board, according to a spokesman for the federal agency. “We’re going to take your strong message back to the board,” WPA president and CEO David Cree told about 250 residents who packed a meeting room at Mackenzie Hall.
The complexities of the Windsor Hum are astounding. The deeper we go into the investigation the more mysterious it becomes. We have recently looked at all the different industries along the river, and they all make one type of noise or another. All the noises sound different from one another, and no two are really alike. We are still seeking to find the elusive 30Hz + the extremely low frequency sounds that felt and not heard - The LF remains untied, undefined, and unknown to us. In the coming weeks we will have some new instruments to measure this phenomenon.
Yesterday we went to Point Pelee where some people have heard the hum. We may have heard it there, but it was so faint that it seemed insignificant yesterday. Yet…it could be there as well according to some residents we talked to. This area is about 100km away from Zug.
